5GL-Doctor for Windows includes a very large medical database and over 12,000 symptoms/signs/events. The database is not a thorough review of any medical condition (however, in many cases there is a link to Harrison’s or Merck’s or other reliable source). The database contains symptoms/signs/events patterns that lead to a positive diagnosis. You can enhance the database. Select a symptom/sign/event and this becomes part of the inquiry. Set options such as history and medications. Click doctor’s icon. A differential diagnosis is presented. Chances are one or two of the top items, given the information was entered well, will prove the final diagnosis.
There are a number of analysis functions including ‘find similar to’ conditions.
However, if you are a personal user then use this software only as a guide and consult an experienced health professional.

If using Windows in S mode you need to switch out of S mode to install 5GL-Doctor. The database is inside the software. Put together from reputable medical sources. You don’t need an Internet connection unless you are linking to an external source. The software is extensive. Documentation is within the software. Because 5GL-Doctor is also for the personal user, it uses simple symptom/sign descriptions (but these are mapped onto medical terms). Once active, go into Analysis 1 and click OK to a build a Compilation Matrix (an internal ‘universe’ of specific ‘universes’ (e.g. Heart, Kidney) and connections to a symptom/event).
The software includes a browser. This browser, while included in 5GL-Doctor, is basic by current standards - because Microsoft has refused to update the ‘Visual Basic.net’ browser functions .
Click to download 5GL-Doctor. This software is very specialized. It has a limited market. That limited market does not warrant the fees associated with including it in Google Play Store or other ways to certify (the costs of certifying software of this complexity can be as high as $US 200,000). For this reason you need to work a bit to install it. You may need to look at browser downloads to see it is downloading. If your browser comes up with ‘can’t be downloaded securely’ or ‘suspicious download blocked’ ask for more information and allow the download. If your browser says ‘Windows has protected your PC’ then select ‘More info’ and then ‘Run Anyway’. Double-click on the downloaded file. If you receive a message saying Windows blocked this application, select ‘more information’ then ‘Keep Anyway’ and later ‘Run Anyway ‘. The publisher is 5GL Software. Start 5GL-Doctor. Choose preferred spelling (USA or Australian/British). For download site enter ‘http://www.5gldoctor.com’. A unique code is generated. First pay (goto payment page) then email the unique code to admin@5gldoctor.com (or med5gl@gmail.com) with subject ‘Unique code’. You will receive an activation code. This is an annual license. At the end of 12-14 months the software asks if you wish to renew. Take a note of this page to pay after the software installs.
Once you have compiled the Compilation Matrix from Analysis 1 then click on ‘Patients’ list and select ‘Angina’. This will show you a DDX and will ask a question and will explain that a diagnosis flow chart is available. Such functions you can also design yourself. (What is the ‘Compilation Matrix’? It is an inner symbolic set of rules and tables to speed up ‘thinking’ - else a simple analysis, due to internal pattern matching complexity, could take hours instead of seconds!)
